Koh Samui Island
The third largest Thai island, Koh Samui is part of an archipelago of more than 60 islands off Thailands’ east coast in the South China Sea.
Just a 45 minute flight from Bangkok International airport and short flight from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong. The islands white sand beaches, swaying coconut palms and calm waters maintain its away-from-it all charm on what is still very much an undiscovered tropical island.
Arriving on koh samui
Flying is the best way to arrive on the island. Thai and Eva Airways now code share with Bangkok Airways Boutique Airline and it has become even easier to travel to the island from Europe, Australia and via Bangkok. Routes are also available with Emirates via Dubai-Bangkok-Samui and Qatar Airways via Dohar -Bangkok - Samui. Try using these companies Trail Finders, Travel Bag or Dial A Flight for flight price comparisons. Flight prices with Singapore Airlines and British Airways via Singapore have been good value recently so this could help you visit another Asian city during your trip. There are also many flights from other international cities in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Germany, China, Japan and USA where we have been welcoming guests for many years!
Choosing the Ferry route from the mainland takes more time but is often chosen by those travelling from Phuket or the mainland an area called Surrathani. Low cost flights to the mainland Surrathani from Chiang Mai are possible with Air Asia.
Flying directly from Chiang Mai to Koh Samui is the best option if you are planning on a trip to northern Thailand before or after Koh Samui. If you want to travel overland from Chiang Mai back to Bangkok think about booking the train which has good value cabin seating for the overnight journey. Ask us how to book it if your interested in this route.

BO PHUT fishermans’ village
Fishermans’ village is fast gaining a reputation that stretches beyond Koh Samui for being the most elegant and well preserved place on the island. Lined by historic wooden Chinese shop houses interspaced with a few contemporary buildings which match the tone, it retains a distinctly mediterranean feel. This is probably due to the fact that it was the main French outpost on the island for many years. Mixed among the restaurants and shops are several boutiques selling clothing, local products and jewelry.
GONE TO THE BEACH….
Bophut beach boasts a 3km long beach which has shallow water for swimming and no coral restricting access to the water. There are few water sport activities on this beach so you can enjoy peace, tranquility and uninterrupted views of Koh Pha-Ngan island. There are many other beaches and hidden coves to explore around the island, hiring a car is a good way to explore these. Try Maenam, Chaweng Noi, Coral Cove, Silver Beach by the old Yacht Club(not a Yacht Club), Cheong Mon, Bangrak and Lamai. Our Koh Samui Luxe guide provides details of the best beaches on the island! We provide this for all our guests.
